Description

woah this took incredibly long to finish.

it goes with the chickens in space picture [link] i have a story for her sortof in my head and these are just snapshots of her life in it. Here she has just finished fixing the engine, as the wind starts to blow with more force just ahead of the storm. this is the plane that will start her journey. she has just shaved her head. the green chickens in space takes place two days later. it is her first day on the university's space colony.

critiques are welcome

yayz! I was wanting you to put up more arts. :-]

Hrm. Critiques. Yanno, I'd say definitely do more object studies with bricks and such. Simple things like that... and then change their scale see if that helps a lot. I find going back to still life helps me iron out inconsistencies.

The overall image is easy to take in, and has a simple palette. The shading you've certainly worked on, and helps the most with giving depth. I'd say work on getting your lines to agree with it more. And don't be afraid to also let the lines take over and get detailed in order to add depth. The details you have on here are pretty crucial help a lot.

I think the character is obviously going to need work. No acting like that isn't necessary. The things I'd like to point out is making sure you keep center of gravity tantamount if you want to do realism with your poses (and I know she's bent back to work on the wing here, but unless you show that the weight has been shifted properly, it's sort of odd looking). Proportions are always important.and I'd say that while you have most of the lengths set right, the widths and scales of the features are off in a few ways. The head is small, and the eyes are high. The legs are rather thick... such that they have the same diameter as the head, so really fixing the head's scale and eye level would be first.

I really hate tearing into it like that, but I hope you know I'm not being mean. I really love your imagination and I hope this helps you express more of it and to express it more clearly as well.

I gotta go but maybe later, if you like, we can paintchat and do online figure studies and the like together... assuming you have a tablet.
